The inaugural Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon premieres in 2010 on Labor Day weekend, marking the fourth event in the Wine Country Half Marathon Series produced by Destination Races alongside the Napa-to-Sonoma, Santa Barbara and Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathons. Experience the warmth and charm of the Willamette Valley when the weather is ideal and the vines are full and ready for harvest. This scenic course meanders through the heart of the valley in Yamhill County, beginning at magnificent Stoller Winery and finishing in the town of Carlton for the popular post-race Wine & Music Festival. Less than an hour south of Portland this area is dotted with small towns, orchards, Christmas tree farms, vineyards and ranches.
The Willamette Valley is recognized as one of the finest Pinot Noir producing regions in the world and is home to over 200 wineries. Many of Oregon's finest wineries will be welcoming you to the inaugural Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon. Destination Races has partnered with the Willamette Valley Wineries Association, Ken Wright Cellars, Chehalem Mountains Winegrowers, and the Oregon Agri-Business Council to bring you the ultimate wine and food themed destination running event in the country.
